It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis Verberne, on October 7, 2026, at the age of 94.
Born in Asten, Netherlands on February 12, 1932, Louis immigrated to Canada, where he built a life centered around hard work, family, and community. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Joanna, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage, building a lifetime of memories, love, and family together.
Louis was a proud father to MaryAnne Chin (Paul), John Verberne (Janet), Hatty Murray (Niall), Anthony Verberne (Lupita), Jeff Verberne (Laura), and Joanny Rudell (Rob). He was a cherished grandfather to Jennifer Cawston (Ben), predeceased by Lawrence Chin, Justin Verberne (Ivette), Sara Nash (Dylan), Jordan Verberne (Jade), Taylor Verberne, Ryan Verberne (Tiana), Rachel Thompson, Nicolas Rudell, Jade Verberne and Bryce Verberne. His legacy continues through his seven beautiful great-grandchildren: Bastian, Tessa, Austin, Leo, Jordy, Isaiah, Sahalie, who brought him so much joy.
Louis was a hardworking man who took great pride in what he did. A skilled mechanic, he owned and operated Lambeth Car & Truck Centre until his retirement. He was the kind of person who could fix just about anything, and if something needed doing, he was always ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work. Whether he was working on cars or tending to his hobby farm, Louis was happiest when he had a project on the go. His strong work ethic, practical skills, and willingness to lend a hand were qualities that defined him throughout his life.
He also had a wonderful sense of humour and a way of making people smile. Louis was a familiar and well-loved face in the Lambeth community, where his morning visits to Tim Hortons became part of his daily routine. Those who knew him will remember his humour, his hardworking nature, and the simple pleasure he found in his everyday rituals.
Louis leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and a lifetime of memories that will be treasured for generations. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the work he took pride in, and the many lives he touched along the way.
Rest in peace, Dad. You worked hard, loved your family, and made your mark on the people and community around you. You will always be loved, always be remembered, and never be forgotten.
